Gaza Grill sits in Kødbyen, the Meatpacking District, and it runs on family recipes cooked with fire: warm spices, tangy dressings and mezze built for sharing. It is generous, soulful food, the kind that comes from a real family kitchen rather than a concept.
The masakhan roll first: tender chicken and onions topped with sumac, balanced by a sweet-tangy pomegranate syrup. Then a spread of dips for sharing: smoky baba ganoush from fire-grilled eggplant blended smooth with tahini and garlic, muhammara rich with roasted red peppers and walnuts and pomegranate molasses, and silky hummus, all best with warm, fluffy pita straight from the oven. Kibbeh, crispy bulgur shells with spiced beef and onions, finished with pomegranate and a yogurt dip. And do not sleep on the fries, somehow the best in the city in our opinion, golden, crispy and made for dipping.
Beef shawarma marinated in tahini and spices following a great-grandfather’s recipe, finished with herbs, pomegranate and yogurt. Juicy chicken shawarma with sumac, pickled cucumber and a garlicky dressing. And golden fried halloumi with za’atar, mint, creamy yogurt and a drizzle of pomegranate. A crispy cauliflower and tahini salad for a veggie break in between.
