This menu is worth gathering around. Welcome to Levantin on Værnedamsvej, a modern Middle Eastern bistro made for sharing. We were invited.
Levantin sits on Værnedamsvej, the little food street straddling Vesterbro and Frederiksberg, and it is built for exactly that neighborhood: vibrant, social, and designed around a table full of plates. The whole menu is made to share, which makes it work for a date or a full group equally.

We kicked off with a run of starters. The Turkish egg, a 60-degree cured yolk with creamy yogurt, cumin, coriander and roasted red pepper, silky and comforting. Whipped goat cheese topped with jewel-like tomatoes, grapefruit and lemon thyme, fresh and gently tangy. Do not sleep on the bread, the simit here is next-level, steaming hot and crunchy. Baba ganoush topped with a whole grilled eggplant, silky and finished with good olive oil. Muhammara with crunchy chips, deep and nutty. Bright beetroot and radish pickles for a reset, then fattoush with simit croutons and a lemony finish.

A beautifully grilled red fish, silky and flaky and gently garlicky, served with springy long beans dressed in olive oil, lemon and garlic, and a potato and cauliflower purée rich with Comté, silky and deeply comforting. For dessert, a tahini Basque cheesecake, velvety and rich, with a thick fig compote to balance it, not too sweet, a satisfying way to end.

Order across the table and share everything, that is what the menu is built for, and keep the wine refills coming. Date or group, it just works, and Værnedamsvej is a lovely street to land on afterward.
This is the kind of food that brings people together.
But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
