Wait until you see this authentic Japanese food right in the heart of Copenhagen. This is Posh Jah on Borgergade, a Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurant with true Japanese flavor.
Posh Jah sits on Borgergade in the city center and runs on an izakaya spirit: a calm, low-key room and a menu of small, precise plates meant to be worked through slowly with drinks. It uses quality ingredients, Danish free-range chicken among them, and it shows.

We started with the Jah Rice: trout roe, seaweed and warm rice underneath, fresh and rich with salty little bursts. From the specials, chicken tsukune meatballs made from high-quality chicken, juicy and well-seasoned with a touch of salt and chili. The shibiyaki shishito pork, recommended by the staff and they were right, smoky and savory, one of the best dishes of the night. The classic Japanese potato salad, whose simplicity fools you, a genuine must. House-made kimchi, bold and fresh. Gyoza, light and handmade with quality pork and fresh herbs, a splash of house chili oil in the dipping sauce pulling it together. And the chicken karaage, golden and crispy, made from Danish free-range chicken you can taste, crunchy outside and juicy inside.

A matcha ice cream bowl with homemade mochi, tea jelly, fresh orange and a sweet syrup. Light, balanced and not too sweet, the perfect way to end an incredible Japanese meal.

Perfect for a cozy dinner, a solo meal at the counter, or anyone chasing umami through a run of small plates. Order a few things, add a drink, and settle in.
Real Japanese flavors, great service, no shortcuts.
But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
