We turn up the heat but let the drinks cool it down. Welcome to Bird Bird, a small slice of Thailand at Nørrebro Street Food. We were invited, as part of our complete Nørrebro Street Food guide.
Bird Bird is one of the stalls at Nørrebro Street Food on Lygten, and it does classic Thai street food built on heat, balance and comfort. It is fast, punchy cooking, the kind you eat off a tray in a busy hall, and it holds up next to anything in the room.

Pad kra pao first, one of the most classic Thai street dishes: lots of holy basil, plenty of chili, cooked hot and fast, bold and direct. It is finished with a Thai-style fried egg, crispy at the edges with a yolk that stays runny, Thai street food exactly how it should be. Next the crispy panang, a hot, crunchy chicken cutlet under a smooth, creamy panang curry, with jasmine rice to keep it all balanced. And if you cannot decide, one plate brings a bit of everything: a quick chicken stir-fry with vegetables and sauce, curry on the side, something crunchy for texture, a little rice, a little freshness, all working together.

You never, never forget the drinks here. Thai iced tea with condensed milk, sweet and creamy, and the Pink Lady, cold and refreshing. They are the cool counter to all that chili, and the meal is not complete without one.

Being in a food hall makes it easy: grab Thai here, let the rest of the group scatter to other stalls, and regroup. Everything is creamy, spicy, crunchy and still balanced, comforting when you want it with enough heat to keep it interesting.
