Two Persian stews you absolutely cannot miss. This is KUKU at Nørrebro Street Food, serving traditional Persian food rooted in Iranian heritage. We were invited.
KUKU is one of the stalls at Nørrebro Street Food on Lygten, and it fills a corner of the map Copenhagen does not see enough of: proper, homey Persian cooking. In a hall full of loud, flashy street food, it stands out by doing something quieter and deeply traditional.

First, ghormeh sabzi, a slow-simmered herb stew traditionally built on fenugreek leaves with turmeric, dried lime, kidney beans and braised beef, served over saffron basmati with a fresh salad and a cooling yogurt dressing. It is rich, deeply herbal and somehow instantly comforting. Then gheymeh, one of Iran’s classic comfort stews, with a completely different flavor profile: brighter and slightly zingy, a tomato base with yellow split peas and braised beef, topped with big pieces of perfectly fried eggplant that add a different texture. Even if it is your first time trying either one, they just work.

If Persian food is new territory, this is the friendliest possible front door: two classics, side by side, that show two very different sides of the cuisine. And because it lives in a food hall, nobody at the table has to compromise, you get your stews while everyone else roams the other stalls.
Two stews, two very different experiences, both rooted in tradition and made with real care. Try them both at KUKU on Lygten.
But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
