Kung Fu (Nørrebro Street Food)

Pan-Asian · Nørrebro

Steaming hot baos, rich bowls and springy noodles packed with bold Asian flavors. This right here is Kung Fu at Nørrebro Street Food, the masters of bao and bowls. We were invited.

The place

Kung Fu is a stall inside Nørrebro Street Food on Lygten, and it has built a name on doing bao and bowls better than most. It spreads across a few Asian traditions but keeps each dish tight and full-flavored, which is exactly what you want from a food-hall kitchen.

What we ate

Steamed bao straight from the basket: tender rendang beef, Thai peanut sauce, pickled carrots and fresh spinach, finished with toasted coconut on top. Then the beef miso ramen: fresh noodles go in, hot broth poured over, miso mixed through thoroughly, then vegetables and rendang beef, topped with a ramen egg, crispy bamboo shoots and spring onions. And the salmon poke bowl: sushi rice with black sesame, kimchi, wakame salad, slivers of fresh avocado and marinated salmon, finished with microgreens and fresh spinach.

How it tastes

The poke bowl is fresh, vibrant and clean, and it just hits right. The miso beef ramen has deep beef flavor and full-on umami from the miso, and you can load it up with chili oil, togarashi and soy for extra heat and brightness. The bao is soft and pillowy, with the rendang rich in aromatic spices and coconut, and the pickled carrots cutting straight through it. Wash it all down with their homemade passion fruit and lime lemonade.

Who it is for

Order across all three, they show off different sides of the kitchen, and share with the table. It is a food hall, so everyone can do their own thing and still eat together. Add the chili oil to the ramen, you will not regret it.

But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
