This is what happens when you take toast seriously. Welcome to cheese-pull heaven, also known as Frank's Toast at Nørrebro Street Food. We were invited, as part of our complete Nørrebro Street Food guide.
Frank’s Toast is a stall inside Nørrebro Street Food on Lygten, and the entire concept is grilled cheese taken as seriously as anyone in the city takes it. No shortcuts, no rushing, just pressure, butter and proper cheese pulls.

Frank’s dressing or basil pesto goes down first, then the filling: a ridiculous amount of shredded steak, a serious pile of sautéed mushrooms, or rich duck confit with hoisin. Red onion for bite. Two cheeses. Butter on top, always. Then onto the grill, butter sizzling immediately, pressure on. That is how you get the magic crust. This is the moment the bread turns golden, the cheese melts all the way through, crispy cheesy edges form on the sides and the inside stays soft. You do not rush this part, you let it settle, and then it is ready.

Duckin’ Good is rich duck confit, deep and savory with a slight sweetness from the hoisin melting into the cheese. Steak It Up is rich and beefy, pairing perfectly with the cheese and Frank’s dressing, comfort food done properly. Real Fun Guy is the vegetarian home run: sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese and basil pesto, full flavor and no compromises.

It is a food hall stall, so it slots perfectly into a group graze: grab a toast, let everyone else roam, and meet back with a tray of different things. Comfort food at its most satisfying, and the cheese pull is very real.
Try all three at Frank’s Toast on Lygten.
But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
