Chiba

Cantonese, Chinese · Vesterbro

Some of the tastiest dumplings in Copenhagen. This is Chiba on Vesterbrogade, a cozy little spot serving flavor-packed dim sum and shareable plates.

The place

Chiba sits on Vesterbrogade in Vesterbro, bright, minimal and inviting inside, with a playful take on pan-Chinese dishes and a strong dim sum focus. Prices are fair and the portions are made to share, which is exactly how you want to eat here.

What we ate

We kicked off with peanut noodles, chewy cut noodles in a caramelized peanut chili sauce, nice heat, great texture, super satisfying. Then dumplings in a steamer basket with free sauces on the side: soy, homemade chili oil and a sweet caramelized chili. The Shanghai buns, filled with pork, cabbage and black mushroom, crispy on the bottom with a sesame crust, juicy and rich in the middle. Crispy rolls filled with tofu, vermicelli, water chestnut and black mushroom, great texture with a dip in the chili sauce. Then the siu long bao, soup dumplings filled with pork, cabbage and shiitake, delicate, juicy and rich. And the barbecue bun, soft and sticky, packed with sweet char siu pork.

The drinks

Two house drinks worth trying: one with lychee and basil seed, the other with oolong, honey and ginger, both refreshing against the food.

Who it is for

Great for a casual dinner, a date or a straight-up dumpling craving, ideally with someone to share the steamer baskets. Come hungry, order across the buns and dumplings, and do not skip the house drinks.

From the noodles to the buns to the bold house drinks, Chiba delivers.

But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
