This restaurant in Paris has been feeding the city for over 200 years, and we went to show you why. La Renommée is a legendary brasserie on Rue Saint-Honoré: classic French dining, but with a few surprises up its sleeve.
Rue Saint-Honoré is one of the grand old streets of central Paris, and La Renommée has been part of it for two centuries. It looks and feels the part, a proper brasserie doing the classics with confidence, but the real surprise is downstairs, and we will get to that.

Freshly hand-chopped steak tartare, served the classic way with a raw egg yolk in the center that you mix yourself tableside. Silky, rich and packed with flavor, with chunky crispy fries and tangy cornichons. Then foie gras de canard with toasted brioche, deep and impossibly silky, melting the moment it hits your tongue, a luxurious French classic done right. Something you might not expect next: a cheeseburger, meaty and cheesy with a homemade pickle, and honestly it is a home run. Slow-braised rabbit pasta, rich, hearty and deeply comforting, finished with crispy fried sage. And sole meunière, perfectly cooked in a generous amount of brown butter with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a side of crisp green beans.

After dinner, head downstairs into the ancient basement beneath the restaurant. This is Maude’s Lounge: stone walls, velvet sofas, Persian rugs and details in every corner. It is a hidden cocktail bar built into the old cellars, and it is the perfect place to retire once the plates are cleared.

This is a sit-down, take-your-time French dinner, ideal for a date or a night when you want the full brasserie treatment followed by cocktails in a room most people never find. Come for the tartare, order the foie gras, and leave time to disappear underground afterward.
200 years old and still going strong. Come for the classics, stay for the cellar.
But now… the real question is… where do we go next?
