The place
ROOF sits on the top floor of the NH Collection hotel on Strandgade, and the view does half the work: the whole Copenhagen skyline laid out below you. It balances rooftop-casual with a bit of fine-dining flair, so it works as a drinks-and-bites spot without feeling like just a bar.
What we ate
The Nasty Slider first, and do not let the size fool you: inside is wagyu beef seared to perfection, sweet caramelized onions and melted cheddar dripping over the edges. Rich, juicy and messy in the best way, small but packing a punch. Then the beef tartare, a genuine showpiece: delicate hand-cut beef on a crisp potato base under heaps of grated truffle, refined and indulgent. And homemade chips, golden and crisp, the kind of snack you cannot stop reaching for.
Cocktails with a view
The cocktails are named after Copenhagen landmarks, so you can sip the drink while spotting it on the skyline. The Marble Church, creamy with coconut, white chocolate and strawberry. City Hall, fresh and green with matcha, basil and lime. Skilled bartenders, and they will do classics on request too.
Who it is for
Come at golden hour, grab a window seat and let the city do half the entertainment. It is a date spot, a celebration spot, or the place you bring visitors to show off Copenhagen from above. Whether you come for the bites, the cocktails or the view, you leave with all three.
